🌞 Our Family Holiday at La Sirène, South of France: Everything Parents Need to Know
In 2025 we had a fabulous 12-day Eurocamp holiday at La Sirène in the Languedoc region of France, and I can honestly say it was one of our best family trips yet.
If you’re thinking of booking a Eurocamp (or Canvas Holidays, since they are now under the same brand), here’s our full breakdown - covering travel, accommodation, kids’ activities, pools, and all the little tips that will make your life easier.

✈️ Planning & Booking
We booked our holiday in May 2025 through Canvas Holidays (now Eurocamp). After lots of searching, we found this to be the best value for a 12-night stay.
💸 Tip for saving: We travelled at the end of August (21st Aug–2nd Sept), which meant prices were much lower as schools in France had already gone back. The kids did miss a couple of days at home, but honestly - they caught up quickly and the holiday was worth it.

🏡 Our accommodation: We chose a Comfort XL Mobile Home (3 bedrooms, air con, decking). It slept 4–6 people comfortably, and last minute we even invited granny along, so it worked perfectly.
🛏️ The blackout blinds were so effective that we often slept until after 9am - glorious lie-ins that felt like a luxury with three kids!

🚗 Travel & Arrival
We flew with Ryanair from Dublin to Girona, with flights under €80 return each. Even adding in transfers, it was still cheaper than flying into Perpignan.
✈️ Parking: We used Park2Travel at Dublin Airport (with discount code SUNNYHOLIDAY for 15% off).
🚖 Transfers: Private taxi with Eric Quintana (€190 each way). He was the cheapest we found and very reliable.
Arrival was smooth—reception staff were friendly, check-in quick, and the campsite was spotless and well-signposted. Our lodge was close to the pool and arena, which was perfect with kids and granny in tow.
Note: If booking through Eurocamp, bedding and towels cost extra. We always bring our own for comfort.
🏡 Accommodation
Inside, the mobile home was cosy but well thought out. Storage was brilliant - cases tucked under beds, cupboards hidden away. It had:
Dishwasher
Air con
Outdoor seating with BBQ & umbrella
Plenty of utensils for cooking
We recommend packing a tea towel and cloth.
Layout: 1 double room, 2 twin rooms. Granny had her own, the boys shared, and our youngest joined us. Everyone was happy.

🍴 Food & Dining
La Sirène has a great selection of restaurants and takeaways.
🍕 We had pizza several nights (chips were amazing!) and dined at the sit-down restaurant one evening while watching a live Back to the Future show.
🥐 The on-site bakery was a hit for croissants, baguettes, and donuts.
🛒 For a big shop, we took a €20 Uber into town and stocked up at Lidl.
The mobile home was fully equipped for cooking—we loved BBQ nights and easy baguette-ham-cheese lunches.

🎉 Entertainment & Kids’ Activities
The activities were endless—bookable through the camp’s own app. Options included:
Archery
Football (even a gaeilge football session for Irish kids!)
Volleyball
Fitness classes (Hyrox, CrossFit, family CrossFit)
Tennis, crazy golf
Our kids went to kids’ club one evening (8–9.30pm), which they loved—meanwhile, mum and dad enjoyed cocktails.
But honestly?
We spent most of our days by the pool as a family.

🎭 Evening entertainment was outstanding - unreal performances!
Performances included The Lion King (Simba), The Little Mermaid, Back to the Future, and The Greatest Showman. High energy, amazing costumes, and something different every night. We booked dinner one night and reserved a table upstairs which was a real treat :)

💦 Pools & Facilities
The pool complex is one of La Sirène’s biggest draws.
Multiple slides for all ages
Toddler splash areas
Larger slides for the brave ones
Strict no food/drink policy kept it clean
Our kids (3, 5, and 8) could have stayed there all day.
💡 Tip: Join the “Friends of La Sirène” Facebook group—people often pass on or sell cheap second-hand pool chairs (the comfy ones are worth it).

🌴 Exploring the Area
The site is lively, but always family-focused. DJs by the pool gave it a fun vibe without feeling overwhelming.
Day trips:
🚤 Argelès-sur-Mer: Classic seaside town, beachfront restaurants, long sandy beach

🎨 Collioure: A stunning artists’ village, accessible by boat from Argelès. We took the boat out and the train back—great value and fun for the kids.

🏃♂️ Marathon training: Feargal and I ran a coastal path to Collioure (16 miles return) and enjoyed sunrise coffee before running back. Gorgeous scenery made it feel less like training and more like a treat.

🚲 No car? No problem. We managed fine with transfers, walking, and the little €2 tourist train into town. Many families also rent bikes or bring beach trolleys for kids and gear.
👨👩👧👦 Family-Friendly Feel
Staff: Welcoming, friendly, and all spoke excellent English (though we tried out a bit of French).
Safety: Well laid out, clean, with traffic-free zones.
Community: Huge Irish family presence! Our kids joined the gaeilge football with 70+ children. We met lots of parents too—shared wine while the kids played.
And for fitness fans—CrossFit, Hyrox, and running routes are brilliant. We even joined in a family CrossFit class!

💡 Our Top Tips for Parents
✅ Pack: Camping trolley, lots of mosquito repellent.
✅ Most useful item: Small cooler bag—for drinks & snacks at evening shows.
✅ Tech tip: Buy the on-site WiFi pass when you arrive (better value for 2 weeks).
✅ Airport tip: Check all local airports (Girona, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Béziers, Montpellier) and compare total travel costs including transfers.
🌟 Final Thoughts
Its clean, lively, full of family fun, and next year they’re even expanding the water park.
One of our favourite memories was sitting outside under the stars watching ET in the outdoor cinema. Luke turned to me afterwards and said, “I actually liked it in French more!” It’s those little moments that make family holidays so special.

👉 If you’re considering Eurocamp for your family, La Sirène is a fantastic choice—whether you’re after poolside fun, evening shows, or exploring the French coast.
